Went up to Kingstown after breakfast very
relieved to find Bank open, got draft on
London & Westminster Bank for Marie, tried
to get Connor to drive as far as Clyde Rd.
They were engaged so took one of the Monkstown
vis a vis Aunt Eveleen & I imagined ourselves
back about 20 yrs, we passed all sentries &
arrived about 12.15 to discover Uncle Charlie
was home he got to Sallins by train from there
to Lucan by outside Car. He had to remain
the night at Lucan. All well at Clyde Rd
but rather shaken by their nerveracking [sic: nervewracking] ex—
periences. We met Uncle Frank on our way
back he had been as far as South Wall.
Ethel took some photos of the soldiers
& barricade at our wicket but unfortunately
spoilt them in developing.
Ina & Millicent Walshe came out yester—
day with Harry Carvill in his car they
have been shut up in the Shelbourne
all the week & had an eventful time as
the machine gun was in the next room to
theirs. They have had no news from home
since Easter1.
