Wire from Aunt Jennie she says
Marie & Beatrice have been staying with
her at 42 Cadogan St. She has allowed
her bank balance to run out so she was not able to advance any money to
Marie so they are waiting on till relief
comes. Richie is to come up from
Downside to meet her today, I have
wired her to bring Richie home & let Bee
go back to Haunton. I don't suppose
they will arrive now till Sunday morn.
This is the first wet day for nearly 3
weeks & it is a corker. The poor soldiers
on guard are having a bad time have
now two tents but the ground must be
sopping. Went to the Welcome Tea1
Room but did not have a great
number of customers. One soldier
tried to explain to us where he was
located but they seem to find it
impossible to remember or pronounce
our Irish names.
Editorial Notes1Temporary area set up by well-to-do Dubliners to provide refreshment to soldiers in the British Army during the Easter Rebellion.
