Kept Beatrice in bed to—day as she came
home with a bad cold in the head.
Had a visit from Dr Beatty to know
if there was any more news of you.
He thinks what we have had so far
very hopeful.
I made up the shirt extra in
canvas & sent it off as instructed
to Bureau de Secours Berne, Switz—
I do hope it will get through to
you soon. I am sure it will be
a comfort to get some message
from home.
Met Girlie & Willie Mooney at
Mitchells both seemed in the best
of form.
Aunt Jennie sent me particulars of
a Convent of the Sacred Heart at
Hammersmith but I am getting
rather nervous of sending her into
the danger zone of Zeppelin Raids. 1
Seven visited England yesterday
Uncle Tom rang up to say there was
a wire to say Aunt Lily had arrived
safely at Malta.
Editorial Notes1On the night Mary Martin is referring to, nine German Zeppelins were sent to raid Liverpool. However they were scattered over the English Midlands and bombed several towns there instead, resulting in 61 deaths and 101 injuries.
