Bridge tournament at Dartry. I
took Kathleen's place as she is laid
up with cold. Granny was my
partner & the Miss Morgan Mooneys
our opponents. We did no good but
enjoyed the afternoon very much.
Aunt Sissy had Uncle Charlie (who
won the hidden number) & Joe Murphy.
The latter swore that he would do a
lot for Miss Sissy Martin, but never
again would he play even for her at
an afternoon Bridge party.
Mrs Cantwell of Beauparc gave me
a seat home in her new ‘Dodge’ 1 we
took several passengers & deposited
them on route. On Merrion Rd
we had a very narrow escape of a
mishap a small car in front
suddenly swerved to the side
without warning to avoid it. Miss
Cantwell
was obliged to mount on
the footpath & turn between the electric
standard 2 & the wall which she did
in marvellous style. I was so fascinated
I had not time to be frightened.
