We received Major Whytes long looked
for letter & although it does not give us
much more details of how you were
we were delighted to have it & read
his praise of you & know that your
good work & bravery was really
appreciated. I am so proud when
I think of how wonderfully you carried
out the arduous & dangerous enter—
prise you & your brave companions were
asked to undertake & what
your valour meant to thousands of
British & French.
I am treasuring Brigadier Nicols
commendation for you.
In the afternoon I went to meeting
at Temple Hill & came home to find
Uncle Charlie here with only Violet
to entertain him. He left his usual
douceurs for the boys.
Jack went to Hippodrom. Boys went
across to the Castle to say goodbye
Mrs. O'Kelly rang up asking me to
go over for a chat. Found all very
fit & in good form.
